This Week's Schedule 1/30

It is finally time to begin our 2012 Soccer Season.

Try-outs will be held on Monday, Jan 30th, Tuesday, Jan 31st, and Thursday, February 2nd. Times will be 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

Monday: Girls will meet in front of the middle school and then go up to the track for the 1 mile run and then will proceed to the game field for sprints, other agility tests, and ball work

Tuesday: Girls will meet in front of the middle school on the practice field

Wednesday: Girls will meet in front of the middle school on the practice field.

Girls will need to wear layers as it could be warm or cold out. They will need running shoes, cleats and shinguards(if they have them). They DO NOT need to purchase cleats and shinguards for try-out week. If your daughter makes the team then she will be required to have shinguards with the NOCSAE label on them (DO NOT CUT THE TAG OFF), but this is only after she makes the team. She will also need 1 pair of all white game socks and 1 pair of all black game socks (these are about $5-10 each, if you have a hardship then we will work out arrangments).

Coaches will meet on Friday to choose the teams and each team will consist of 17 players unless there is an extenuating circumstance and then the team may allow for more players. The results will go out Friday night on the high school & middle school webpage, the mcgirlssoccer blog, and facebook soccer parent group.

We commend all girls who have showed up for pre-season and conditioning. They have all worked so hard and put in so much effort. We are looking forward to a wonderful season with such hard working and talented young ladies!

Recruiting Video

I found a video that outlines important information if you are looking to play soccer in college. This can be found on the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) Webpage.

The video is on the right hand side of the page. You will need to put in your email and whether you are a parent or athlete. The webinar is free of charge.

PRACTICE DATES & TIMES: Conditioning

Conditioning will be 1 hour in length and go from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at the high school. You can pick the girls up outside of the school in the back near the weight room.

Here is the January schedule for girls soccer:

Tuesday, Jan 3rd

Thurs, Jan 5th

Monday, Jan 9th (Coach Mann out)

Tues, Jan 10th

Tues, Jan 17th (Coach Stalker out)

Thurs, Jan 19th (Coach Mann out)

Mon, Jan 23rd

Tues, Jan 24th (Coach Mann out)

Thurs, Jan 26th

Mon, Jan 30th

Tues, Jan 31st

The girls will need to wear layers as it can be very cold outside, but hot in the weight room. We are not able to play with the soccer ball in January, so it will be all conditioning (running, sprinting, agility skills, and weight training.)

Week #1 in February is try-outs for all non Winter sport athletes. All Winter sports athletes will have the opportunity to try-out when their season has ended.

We are looking into new uniforms this year as well as warm-ups. We will need to fundraise for warm ups (These could be anywhere between $40 to $60, so fundraising is very important). We will be setting up bake sales and selling chocolates. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Once the teams have been chosen I would also like to get T-Shirts which would most likely be a cost to parents, but the price has not been set yet (probably range from $7 - $15).
